The way that hundreds of people I've trained, including myself, were able to overcome the obstacles in their own lives was through PHYSICAL TRAINING toward HIGHER LEVEL STRENGTH AND SKILL.
Physical action towards progressively higher levels of strength and ultimately skill is the step by step process through which the brain rewires itself and the body is sculpted for lifelong health.
And that neural landscape is the foundation upon which the rest of your life is built.

You were designed with PURPOSE, VALUE, and DIGNITY.
Rather than created to live in fear, doubt, and opporession, we were created to fill the earth, be productive, and create beauty in the world, including our own physical strength and skill.
You cannot conform to the pattern of this world, but you have to be transformed by the rewnewal of your mind. This teaching comes directly from the Bible and is ultimately concerned with a person's relationship with God. But it is directly relevant to all areas of life, including the body and mind. And this change of mind will also renew your body and make you capable of much more productive, creative, beautiful work!
Training the body is extremely valuable. It will allow access to many more options that might not be accessible if the body is unhealthy or weak. And because of the neuroplasticity of the brain, the body can reshape the brain and make you mentally stronger.
There is a natural obsession with one's own body because of everything it is capable of, and that's why there is a vast sea of photos, videos, and social media showcasing physical beauty, abs, and strength. But that obsession is immature and must be conquered.
The body is a TOOL for making the mind strong, just as the mind is a tool for making the body strong. The mind is not just an amazing computer sitting inside a head atop a walking skeleton. It is capable of far more than we realize and can even imagine.
And the reciprocal relationship of the body and mind is capable of even more than that!
Thus, conquering your physical training should be your utmost priority.
Becoming a conqueror is neither about conquering other people, nor conquering their dominions. It is about conquering your own body and mind such that you become a leader through the action you’ve taken in your own life.
It’s about developing the strength and the courage to become the leader your friends, your family, and your community need you to be.
It’s about transforming your strength and skill into something incredible.
Yet many people avoid action.
Taking ACTION requires the mind and the BODY. The mind has to be kept engaged through the physical action of the body. Whatever a person chooses to do, they have to engage in physical action to become a conqueror. The most successful people are physically active.
One of the most important steps to take in preparing for action is the development of strength and mobility.
A body that is strong and can move provides even more opportunities in life. It is the vehicle that can take many more avenues towards success. It isn’t limited by fatigue or frailty. It is ready to produce and create! And athletic training and coaching can even be a career you decide pursue!
Hi, my name is Lee. And I’m just a human being who helps other human beings achieve their goals. I’m a husband and father. And I’ve been a youth pastor, an educator, and a college teacher. I’m also an artist, writer, philosopher, and curriculum designer. After a few years in the education system, my wife and I decided to leave and open a training facility in Alaska...and then I built Strength Moves Academy online.
The reason I have such a passion for this is two-fold…
First, I understand that the human body is extremely amazing and can accomplish incredible feats...when trained properly and when the hard work is put in to generate the adaptation necessary.
I remember competing in martial arts and then finding the beauty of Capoeira, and then powermoves, and then circus arts, and then gymnastics and carefully studying the art and science of movement and building those skills with a similar philosophy of hybridization written about by Bruce Lee in the “Tao of Jeet Kune Do.”
On the other hand, I had also spent nearly my entire childhood sitting in a chair...and then hours upon hours more as a painter and artist sitting behind canvases. As a result of that sedentary lifestyle, by my late 20’s, I already was dealing with major back pain from bulging discs, spinal stenosis, and yes, arthritis. At my worst, my wife had to help carry me into the doctor’s office.
This was a far departure from my competitive martial arts practice and training powermoves and flips in the 110 degree heat of Texas and swamps of Florida.
I’ve heard people all my life say they’re “too old.” Even doctors are known to say “just accept the aging process.”
And so when they told me the same thing, there aren’t words to describe the internal struggle I had, because I did not want to quit.
People, including doctors, told me I was too tall, too big, and too old!
But I did not quit! (more on that later)
The second reason I have such a passion for this is that I understand how much the mind benefits.
As a child, I watched family members with mental illness fade away.
As an adult, I’ve witnessed and been personally faced with the tragedy of anxiety and depression pushing people, my friends, to their breaking points.
And as a human being, I also have a story.
Within that story, my history, I took time through college to write my master’s thesis on neuroplasticity and mental disorders as they relate to spirituality.
And as an educator and coach, as well as a human being on my own quest, I’ve personally witnessed the positive results of physical action, namely higher level training, that can rewire a person’s mind for the better.
So this is a big part of my life, and as I introduce others to this training, it becomes a big part of theirs.
It isn’t some silly gimmick, party trick, or irrelevant thing.
It helped me personally overcome bulging discs, spinal stenosis, arthritis, and my own internal struggles.
And now at 4 decades into life I can do flares, double flips, high bar, aerial silks, and am working on more things, not less...and certainly not quitting.
And others who I work with are rapidly learning how to build the mental and physical strength to do this as well. They have their own stories, with many past injuries and situations that they’re trying to overcome too.
The number 1 thing I always tell people is that it’s about lifelong health.
I just didn’t realize it when I was a kid learning this stuff. Nor did I realize it would have such a good impact on me later in life...or that it would help other people in the way that it does.
So now, I work with of course the younger folks at our training facility all the way up to older folks in their 60’s both face to face and online using the same systems and concepts.
They include engineers, lawyers, pilots, college students, military personnel, surgeons, martial artists, and all kinds of real people who really want to accomplish real goals.
I also see others from a distance who don’t succeed.
The biggest difference is whether they have a negative or positive mindset. And once a person adopts a negative one, all hell can break lose, including giving up, and taking out their pain on others in the most malicious of ways.
So that’s a little about me and what I do, in addition to art, writing, and hanging out with family.
